And every school battles at some point for funding and managing fiscal priorities right !

Well, we passionately want to help with the safety and security part and don't want you to spend a dollar on it.

We think its critically important to educate and empower teenagers with the right skills to manage "risk" in their lives by engaging the right levels of situational awareness supporting with a little self defence knowledge. Make no mistake, its the ability to make good decisions in moments of "bad situations" that can be life changing.

If the above is of interest then we should catch up and discuss how QTraining can empower your students, and provide you with additional credibility in terms of what you do for student safety and this wont impact on your budget. That is a win win scenario which ever way you slice it.

We work with you to provide life skills around safety and security for your students.

PARENTS When your children are young, you can protect them because you're always with them. But as they grow older, they move further away. They might go to college or university, move to a new town, or go travelling around the world. You can't protect your children when you're not with them. But you can give them the skills they need to protect themselves.

 Parents

When your children are young, you protect them because you're always with them. But as they grow older, they move further away. College,  university, move to a new town, or go traveling around the world, on the big OE.

You can't protect your children when you're not with them. But you can give them the skills they need to protect themselves.

As a parent, you have your own experience of the modern world. You understand the risks and dangers. You've probably tried to explain them to your children. Unfortunately sometimes that message just doesn't get through. They hear part of what you say, but they don't take it in. In their eyes you're not an expert in this space – you're mum and dad. This is where we can help.

We have a some expertise in this space, so you're in good hands. At QTraining we have spent many years safeguarding our clients around the world and we now impart this life skill message to our young people. When we talk to kids, they listen – even teenagers. This is a six hour intensive training day that will you leave with life skills that will help set you up to win.

We know that you will have questions on our training, we have compiled a number of our most frequently answered questions below:

Why is situational awareness so important?

Because it is at the centre of all good decision making when dealing with risk. If you are more in tune with your environment and potential risk factors you are instantly in a better space to deal with it. Its about developing it as a life skill and using it daily.

Why as a life skill?

Many of us are aware of the risks in the workplace with a heavy focus on health and safety. But your bigger risks surround you outside of the workplace. Driving, travel, social life, walking in public places. All of this presents some risk to a degree, just look at the papers on a daily basis. You are free to do as you wish but you are not free of the actions or consequences of others. Being situationally aware goes a long way to understanding risk and putting some basic process in place.

How does it have a real impact on workplace accidents?

In nearly all workplace accidents you will find human error. Underpinning that is likely to be a lack of situational awareness. The most important aspect within an organisation is its culture supported by a genuine leadership group that has the desire for the workplace to be accident free. At an individual level it is the situational awareness that they bring everyday that stops accidents happening.

What does tailoring courses mean?

All the courses have the same foundational messages around situational awareness but we do tailor courses to your requirements. Some businesses want to combine a session on anti robbery or anti shoplifting. Some want more self defence or no self defence. With regards to schools and teenagers the QTraining courses are pitched at particular age groups. As an example those 13 or 14 it's partly about social media risk, risk at malls and public places, for those 16 onward its about risk associated with parties, drugs, driving, stranger and non stranger situations. The core messaging is the same, but the content, tone and delivery changes depending on the audience.

I want to get my kids into martial arts to keep them safe. Isn't this better?

We love hearing of kids getting into the martial arts, MMA and boxing. The discipline, fitness and self defence skills are fantastic skills to acquire. However it doesn't give you the awareness skills and decision making processes to keeping safe. The ability to avoid getting involved in any confrontation is much better than getting into the violence itself. Much better and much safer. The self defence should always be about a principle of stun and run and provide you with a safe and fast exit strategy.

This site seems mostly about women and risk. Are the courses just for women?

No, not all. The courses are for everyone. However its not lost on us and our clients that in terms of physical risk women are often targeted and become victims. Through our courses we want to change that. Situational awareness is a life skill for everyone to acquire and if they did then we would have far less accidents, fewer victims of crime and safer workplaces. Whilst this web site does have a focus towards women our Q Risk web site is our corporate site for Risk Management, Security consultancy and Corporate training. You can visit us there.

What is the best age to have my teenage daughter go on a course?

There is no best age. We have done the courses for young ladies aged 13 to 17 years. We even had a 9 year old who I thought maybe a bit young but she proved us wrong. The tone and delivery is different between younger and older as are the analogies we use and the case studies we discuss. We focus on the courses being interactive, thought provoking and fun. They love the self defence part. Ideally do a course at 13 or 14, then a refresher at 15 or 16 along with QTraining extreme course then by the time they hit university or get the travel bug you have given them some awareness and self defence skills.

If my daughter wants to do a course, where and where do you run them?

This is easy. Just reach out to us on our contact page we will then discuss things like age group and which school. We can travel nationwide and work in with local schools to utilize classroom or hall space. This way people are in a relaxed environment and will do the course with friends and peers and maybe you. Once you make a commitment to us, we will make the commitment in putting it together. That's how important this stuff is to us.

I certainly want my teenage daughter to do it, but can I do it too?

Absolutely, we love to have mums and dads to come along. Its a life skill right and we are all learning and sharing experiences.

here are just a small selection of the feedback our clients have given us:
